Inspiration – Her Morning Elegance

With the abundance of videos that are uploaded and films that are released on a daily basis, there is never a shortage of content to overwhelm and inspire us. This week we’ve picked Oren Lavie’s music video for Her Morning Elegance to share with you.

This video was created in 2009 but watching it now, it’s still very impressive.

Aesthetically it is beautiful and seamless throughout – pay particular attention to the introduction of a second person. The reason we love it so much is that it is a great example of thorough pre-production resulting in successful execution.

Stop-motion in itself requires a lot of planning to ensure each frame leads seamlessly into the next. Add to that the consideration needed for shooting time (this video was shot continuously over 48 hours) and the inevitability of changing light, much planning would have been required to source a suitable location, possibly with no windows or windows to be blacked out, and suitable equipment to achieve the overall framing and style.

Ultimately, the key to a production of this quality is thorough pre-production. We understand that it is not always possible to allocate an abundance of time to pre-production, but hopefully we can help you see the huge benefits it can bring.
